Devika is currently in her second year of a B.Com degree at Sheshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management. With a CGPA of 9.5 in both her first and second semesters, she’s steadily working toward a career in the financial sector. 

Her education journey hasn’t been easy. Devika began her schooling at Bharat Matha Presidency School, but due to family circumstances, her mother had to shift her to Apolla English High School, where she completed her SSLC with 83%. The lockdown during COVID-19 made academics difficult, but she stayed determined. When it came time to choose a PU college, Devika set her sights on BGS PU College—her dream institution. Encouraged by her teachers, her mother eventually agreed to enroll her. 

The first year of PUC came with its own challenges. Devika struggled at first but received constant encouragement from her teachers. They stayed back with her every day till 5:30 p.m., helping her grasp concepts and build confidence. In her second year, she saw the result of that support, scoring an impressive 97%. 

When it came time for college, Devika’s teachers recommended the Sheshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management, one of the city's reputed institutions. Initially, her mother was hesitant, but with encouragement from her teachers, she was convinced. Today, Devika is glad she made that decision. 

She once dreamed of becoming a Chartered Accountant but has since decided to build a career in finance. Though she doesn’t consider herself to have many hobbies, she dreams of one day traveling the world. 

At home, her father works as a mason on construction sites, and her mother is a gardener at Himalaya Wellness Company. Seeing their hard work, Devika is determined to do well, secure a good job, and give them the comfort they deserve. 

When it seemed like she might have to drop out due to the cost of her degree ₹64,000, Devika received scholarship support from Manal Foundation. Their assistance covered half her fees, making it possible for her to continue studying without burdening her family further. 

Devika’s message to students: 
"Please follow your ambition and your goal. Don’t give up. If you give up, you won’t be able to achieve anything. You are the support to your family, so stay confident and tell them, ‘I can do it.’ Once they see your determination, they will stand by you. I will always be grateful to Manal Foundation for helping students like me."
