Skill Development Initiative

Ramu, a 24-year-old from Hal Marathahalli, has always had a passion for bikes, cars, and the mechanics that keep them running. Despite his love for automobiles, life didn’t take a straight route. Coming from a modest family, his father works as a plumber, his mother as a gardener, and he has two sisters. One has completed her degree and is working as a supervisor, while the younger is pursuing a diploma. Ramu and his sister are currently the only earning members of the family.

He recently completed his diploma in automobile engineering from SJP Government Polytechnic College. However, due to financial constraints, he couldn’t afford to continue his higher studies. To support his family, he began working as a delivery executive. Through dedication and perseverance, he worked his way up to become a team leader and later a hub in-charge at Flipkart. Yet, he never lost sight of his goal to return to studies and strengthen his technical skills.

“I always wanted to get back to studies and upgrade my skills. It wasn’t easy,” Ramu shares. “But I knew that if I wanted to grow in the automobile industry, I needed hands-on experience.”

When he came across the 4-wheeler technician course at KGTTI, supported by Manal Foundation, it felt like the perfect opportunity. The program offered practical, real-world training that aligned exactly with what he had been looking for.

“Normally, after diploma, people just start looking for jobs. They don’t focus on gaining more skills,” he says. “But taking a course like this gives you more knowledge, builds confidence, and helps you face technical interviews better.”

The training, which blends theoretical concepts with practical experience, has not only sharpened his technical understanding but also boosted his self-confidence. He now actively shares information about the course with his friends and peers through WhatsApp and conversations, encouraging them to take similar steps toward skill-building.

“Studies have no age limit,” he smiles. “Learning is eternal. Just like driving, you can start anytime and keep going.”

With his newly acquired knowledge, Ramu hopes to grow in the automotive field, upgrade his workshop skills, and eventually help others in his community who dream of a similar path.

“Knowledge is like fuel,” he says. “Once you have it, you can go far.”

Ramu’s journey is a testament to persistence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. With the right opportunity, he is steering his life toward a more skilled and independent future.
